In my opinion a too short cycle is a disadvantage for the people with SuSE subscriptions. I specifically chose **not** to get a subscription because the cycles are too short. Typically there are relatively few changes between one release and the nex that "require" me to update. I don't want to go through the hassle of backing up my data, making sure all of my config file are aslo safe and then do a fresh install. I never to an update and neither do a lot of people. That is just too much work to do every few months (at least for me). Instead, I will often just update individual packages. If the subscription was something like "three releases over the next two years" versus "the next three releases", I would be more likely to get a subscription. (assuming there are more than three releases every two years) Regards, jimmo On Sunday 03 February 2002 04:10, Thomas Beasley wrote:
When I bought my SuSE 7.2 pro from SuSE, our local BestBuy still had 6.4, 7.0 and 7.1 versions on the shelf. Needless to say, BestBuy has yet to put 7.3 on its shelves here in Jacksonville, Florida. I'm still sorting out 7.2, myself.

Hello,
due to retail reasons (planning stock take) I wonder when the next release will be announced and when for. If any SuSE guys can let out any hints that would be appreciated. We already surpassed the four month cycle: (...)
This might be related to the fact that 7.3 is a comparatively mature release which deserves a longer lifecycle than four months:-) And I would appreciate the next release rather later than in a hurry, and rather with full all-in-one-USB-device support than with the problems we encounter right now.
