Do I make an rpm -qi, I get the message that kernel k_default-2.4.4-35.i386.rpm is not installed.
When you do this, do you type rpm -qi k_deflt-2.4.4-35.i386.rpm ? You have to type the package name only. Not the rpm name rpm -qi k_deflt. And about the error message with mk_initrd: If you have any module that needs to be loaded to reach your root partition, say your disk is scsi, or the root partition is reiserfs, then you need an initrd with those modules in it. If your disk is ide and your root is ext2 you won't need an initrd and mk_initrd will give you those errors. Just ignore them. Just do lilo and reboot. regards Anders
