David, I didn't see any reference to a unix or linux driver on the site
above. I actually have a set of 3c509 drivers on a disk, and I will
certainly review the contents of its readme file. As a general proposition,
how do I get SuSE to recognize a "foreign" driver file? Just copy it into
the directory where the original resides? (Assuming there's a 3c509.o file
on the floppy).
I don't have it set up as plug and pray, just straight ISA. This computer
has two Seagate 9 gig SCSI drives on it, but only one is operable at a time.
I just remove power from one and apply it to the other.
When I run the drive with SuSE 7.0, it recognizes the 3c509. When I run
the drive with SuSE 7.3 installed. it doesn't. Nothing else changes.
Again, I will look at the readme file on the current driver disk, and
see if it has any useful information. The disk may be a year old, so it may
be worthwhile updating it to the 6.1 drivers. We'll see.
