I wonder if there exist a "data analysis" package running on SuSE. I mean I need FFT and some low-pass and band-pass digital filters to get rid of the noise in my simulation data.
Yes, there are many packages like this. An overview of scientific applications on Linux is on http://SAL.KachinaTech.COM/index.shtml.
In addition, I figured out GNUPlot generates good graphs but has poor data fitting features.
It's OK, gnuplot was designed with plotting in mind.
Mathematica does have this feature ( polynomial, Bezier , etc ...). It's pretty straightforward to fit a curve to data generated by Mathematica. It's not so easy to do that by importing data though.
If the data are preprocessed by awk into a Mathematica-friendly form first then their import is easy.
I was wondering whether there exists some code, running on SuSE, that has comprehensive data fitting capabilities and a graphic interface.
People here use matlab. There are non-commercial alternatives, too (octave, scilab). -- Alexandr.Malusek@imv.liu.se
