ok i think my mistake was the capital I in inbox
now i send myself a msg and i cc myself i only got one but i did not see the other one in duplicates where would that one be before i change that to /dev/null

well , it was not lost, i found them in /var/spool/me but i did set ut a default mailbox see below not sure what does entry has to do with missing the default directory

Do you have something like this in your .bashrc/.zshrc (whatever shell you use)?
-- export MAIL=$HOME/Mail/Incoming --
The above will make sure that unless otherwise told..all your mail will end up in the file/directory that you choose.
I have all my mail by default dump into a file called Incoming..you could use inbox if you wished. Procmail will follow it's rules, but if there is no rule then it goes into ~/Mail/Incoming.
I have the same procmail entries as you discribe above and I've never lost a piece of mail.
I would check to see if your Mail dirctory is specified in your . file. :)
