Hi everyone, I'm losing my MIND with this! When I boot, which of course isn't often (I stay in Linux almost all the time and rarely need to boot), I get a whole bunch of messages about something being wrong with /etc/rc.config. More specifically, the error complains about the value of CONSOLE_MAGIC on line 557. Here is the relevant part of /etc/rc.config: ------ # # for some fonts the console has to be initialized with CONSOLE_MAGIC. # CONSOLE_MAGIC can be empty or have the values "(B", ")B", "(K" or ")K". # # CONSOLE_MAGIC="" ------ (The dashes, of course, are just delimiters for this mail; they're not in rc.config.) Originally, CONSOLE_MAGIC had a value of "(B". SuSE complained. I tried changing it, re-entering it, and everything else I could think of. The system kept complaining. Just now, I changed my console font in YAST, and when I went in to look again, CONSOLE_MAGIC had been set to "" (empty). The system still complained when I booted. So I finally tried commenting it out, as you see above. The system STILL complains that the value of CONSOLE_MAGIC is invalid! The string "CONSOLE_MAGIC" does not occur anywhere in /etc/rc.config outside the excerpt above. Oh, and BTW, when I boot, my se-latin1 keymap doesn't "take"; I have to go into YAST and load it to get it to work in the console. I suspect these problems are related....
