You can always find many how tos at www.linuxdoc.org which can help you. I am assuming that you want to setup a server as opposed to just using ftp. You can also look in /usr/share/doc/packages and go into the directory of the package you want to use (I use wuftp) and there is some documentation in there as well.

I've done a search, but I get thousands of hits back (It's impossible to know which ones are relevant without going through them one-by-one). I also need to know how to get ftp working through a firewall and proxy server. Again I've done a search, and again get loads of hits back.
Thanks for any help,
Gerry.

I don't want to set-up a server, I want to connect through one. I'm unsure of how to do so, but I'm starting to get the impression that the proxy server needs to be altered to allow my PC to access ftp sites. Gerry
