7.3 Installer Disks

A simple question; why don't the 7.3 install disks provide
functionality to use a DHCP server to obtain an IP address? I know
enough about my network to punch in a valid network configuration,
but it sucks, just the same. While I'm asking, why can't it use name
resolution?
An acceptable alternative to both problems, for me, would be the
ability to pre-load machine and installation source via a
configuration file on the disks. Did I miss this functionality somewhere?
