Hi All & Raul,

who was asking after DMA stuff.

Well, try this one....

hdparm -d1c3X34S 60 /dev/hda

should give you a wee boast.

Have a look around for "the Linux Ultra-DMA Mini HOwTo."

Hope that helps.

/dev/hda:
multcount = 16 (on)
I/O support = 0 (default 16-bit)
unmaskirq = 0 (off)
using_dma = 0 (off)
keepsettings = 0 (off)
nowerr = 0 (off)
readonly = 0 (off)
readahead = 8 (on)
geometry = 1216/255/63, sectors = 19541088, start = 0

may I simply :

# hdparm -d1 /dev/hda

any other harddrive performance improving tip? :-)

Thanks,

Raul
