How are you resolving IP addresses? You need to make sure that your name
resolution is set up correctly first. It sounds like you haven't got a route
to your server properly set-up. Have a look at your /etc/route.conf file.
Also, when you say, inside the LAN do you mean from a network node or on the
server itself?

Ok,
This has been bugging me for a while. I hope this is not a repeat question, I did try to do my homework by searching the web first...
I have a nice little LAN at home using Road Runner cable modem service. I set this up using a Netgear router to share the connection. I also have an apache web server running on my new SuSE box. Since Road Runner does not allow static IP service, I have to use something like www.dyndns.org. My router is configured to forward http requests to the SuSE machine. Everything works great if I am accessing the web server from outside the LAN.
Ok, now for the question. When I am at home working on my web site, I cannot test it on my LAN by going to http://my.domain.com/ or http://localhost/ The former brings me to my router configuration web page, the latter using netscape brings me to some bizarre netscape search page. Oddly though, it works using lynx. Is there something that needs to be set in netscape 6.2 to actually check for a web server running on "localhost"? Is there anyway to use my actual URL to access my site from within the LAN without it trying to open my router configuration page?
Thanks, once I get this figured out, I will probably try to set up samba, and I am sure I will have even more newbie questions....
