I was trying to configure my DSL connection last
night w/ mixed success. I am using the Earthlink
service w/ an external modem attached to an
ethernet card. I followed the instructions in the
"Network" manual, & everything seemed to work
OK. However, I can't get to any web site (I tried
konqueror, netscape & mozilla).
What I am curious about is that the manual says
you need to have a "placeholder" IP address for
your host machine and a nameserver. It even
suggests some addresses to use. Which I did.
When I look in resolv.conf, this "placeholder" IP
address is in there. Is it actually trying to use
this to resolve names/Ips? I'm confused.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!
TIA,
Mike
