When I use http://rpmfind.net/linux/rpm2html to locate RPM packages, I very infrequently find any packaged for SuSE. Is there a "best" alternative to use, e.g. Red Hat? How should I go about selecting a "found" RPM package if I want to run it on SuSE Linux 7.2 (soon 7.3)?
RPMFind is less than worthless, IMO. I really do not recommend installing an RPM from another distro, unless you make sure there will be no problems, and you use the src.rpm. Here are the cool SuSE RPM sites I've found: - http://packman.links2linux.de/ - These guys rule, this page is always my first destination - http://www.mahowi.de/download/suse71/index.html - Believe it or not, these are usually up to date - http://www.tmueller.com/linux/suse-7.1/index.shtml - http://sourceforge.net/projects/rpmsforsuse/ - http://home.earthlink.net/~noodlez84/rpm_packages.html Also, building your own RPMs isn't that hard, once you get used to it. I highly recommend perusal of: http://www.suse.de/~grimmer/Package-Conventions/ - Thanks, Lenz I hope that helps. -- James Oakley Engineering - SolutionInc Ltd. joakley@solutioninc.com http://www.solutioninc.com
