I would like to thank everybody for their help...The advice given worked. I had to run sax2 though the command line at level 3 in order to be able to save my configuration and to have control over my mouse. On Friday 16 November 2001 02:32, you wrote:
I would do this:
1. Go to the NVIDIA site & download the SuSE 7.3 driver rpms (kernel and glx) 2. Go to a console (exit KDE or Gnome, or whatever) 2. Install w/ the following commands (you can also download/print their readme file)
rpm -Uvh nvidia_kernel*.rpm (the driver file has a long name & I can't remember it all) rpm -e NVIDIA_GLX rpm -ivh nvidia_glx*.rpm
3. Run Sax2. If you are worried about your mouse not working, just use the keyboard until you get your mouse configuration set. I think SuSE has put in a new feature which helps in this regard - I believe you press F5 for this feature (after starting Sax). This is described in one of the manuals (Configuration manual I believe).
Make sure you pick the nvidia driver, and choose the option to load glx. When you choose your monitor settings, pick the color depth of 16 (don't pick 24 million). Hopefully the test server will work now. If so, adjust your screen(s) as necessary & save.
4. Open /etc/X11/XF86Config for editing and check for the following; The module "load glx" is there. The default color depth for your Display is 16. Under Devices, make sure the driver is nvidia Also under Devices add Option "sw_cursor" (I have a GeForce2 MX, and when I ran 3Ddiag it told me to do this - it worked). 5. Save XF86Config and startx 6. When KDE starts (or whatever you use) open an xterm & run 3Ddiag again & see what it tells you. Hopefully you'll be all set..:)
I just went through this process last night & it worked out fine.
Hope it helps!

I am trying to configure a geforce 2 mx under suse 7.3...I should mention that when I try to run sax2 I totally lose control of the mouse pointer.... I have updated via yast2 all the necesssary drivers for the graphics card to work.Nevertheless when I try to load to load the module 'glx' via yast2 for the 3d to work and run a test server, the monitor goes blank and the sysetm crashes.I would be grateful for any pointers/advice given... 3Ddiag outputs that I do not have a driver installed etc etc...and that I must add lines about the glx module etc... I suppose that it would work if sax2 did not keep crashing.Any advice would be most welcome...
