I actually see no need for OSS unless you have a REALLY off the wall card. Alsa supports SO many cards now that OSS isn't actually needed in most cases.
When you regularly upgrade your kernel, ALSA gets *really* annoying. I went back to OSS on my work laptop because I simply don't have the time to waste. I simply download the latest version whenever I upgrade and I've never had any trouble as long as I stay away from 'ac' and 'pre' kernels. Mantel's are fine. 4Front's tech-support is great, too. -- James Oakley Engineering - SolutionInc Ltd. joakley@solutioninc.com http://www.solutioninc.com
