My mistake, it used to be. I haven't even owned an ISA device for
over a year, though, so you'll please forgive me.

No it wasn't. The original questioner isn't half done with his
problem yet, and we're still working on it. I just went off on a bit
of a tangent there with Ben.

To noodle this back on-topic, we next need to figure out if the Hayes
PCI modem he listed has any critical HSP components. If it's a pure
hardware device, it'll simply be a matter of pointing the PCI device
to something that the Linux kernel can use. I'm still open to
comments on the modem itself...

I recognize your name and your email address, but don't necessarily
know you. I'm sorry you have such a quick temper, but my helpfulness
to newbies and experienced admins alike stands on it's own (check the
archives for -=|JP|=-). Unfortunately, humor doesn't translate well
via plain text. If you take anyone's words on this list via email
even half as seriously as you appear to be now, perhaps *you* should
find a hobby.

Real people have real problems with real computers all the time.
Real businesses suffer, real paychecks are at stake, and real
families go hungry when things don't go right at work. Even at that,
if you don't have a sense of humor about it all, *especially* if your
job is sorting out computer problems for a living, you will die a
bitter, lonely person; that's the most serious matter of all.

The original poster, IIRC, is a home user trying to sort another home
user's problems out as a gift of kindness. With that in mind, joking
is easy. If you came to us with a mission-critical problem, I assure
you that I, for one, would save the jokes for the EOT message. It's
all a matter of taking things in perspective, so lighten up.
