SuSE is by far the best Linux distro out there, but I do agree with a few on the list that 7.3 was premature.
Install problems so far: (Fresh Install)
1) Hauppage TV tuner card found but not functional 2) Modem not found 3) X Windows, fonts unreadable 4) NVidia drivers somewhat flakey
I recompiled a custom kernel, and installed it. And thats as far as I got. I haven't booted since then, so, we'll see what other problems arise in
The font problem was solved by going into KDE Control Panel and changing all the default fonts. Setting them to the clean font worked. After recompiling the kernel, the modem was found, and the NVIDIA drivers from SuSE Online Update fixed many of the display problems. Still can't get KWINTV or XAWTV to work with my WinTV card. The card is found and configured during boot, but both tv programs die after starting them. My SBLive sound card is still not working. I'm unclear on how to configure it in the kernel. I've chosen the EMU10K1 kernel driver, and during boot, the card is found and configured, but in KDE, the console returns a lot of char-major-116 not found. Does anyone know how the kernel should be configured for a SBLive soundcard. Should OSS be turned on, should ALSA be started at boot, should the EMU10K1 kernel driver be turned on? I've had trouble with this card since SuSE 7.1, and I know its something I'm doing wrong. I am very impressed with the new KDE. Very nice. I just want my sound and tv card to work now.
