Hi Eric,
Personaly, I've installed an iDE CDR with the scsi emulation, into SuSE 7.1.
And it works fine, even if I use the CD as a Reader.
I do not have to unset what I've done to set the SCSI/iDE emulation.
May be you've missed to change softlink of ide cdrom to scsi cdrom ?
HTH

Hi.
I have installed SuSE linux 7.3
Also I have installed the Xcdroast, that works ok.
But when my cdrom drive shall work with the Xcdroast I need by the help of Yast to put in the 'hdc=ide-scsi' in the LILO under administration.
Opposite I have to delete that part of the line if the cdrom has to be used 'normally'.
How can I avoid this changing forth and back ?.
Also when for instance I'm in Netscape, the localhost cannot be found.
What can have caused that ?.
