Hi Ben,

I was in this trouble a while ago too when I upgraded to the kernel
built-in pcmcia. I'm occasionally using a Token Ring Card which the
stand-alone pcmcia_cs package couldn't handle. So I upgraded to Kernel
2.4.7 and switched on the "Hot-Plug" feature and the corresponding card
driver. When I now plug-in the Token Ring Card the Kernel installs the
appropriate PCI device. However, all setup that is usually done by the
cardmgr now must be done manually. (1. insmod <driver> 2. setup network).
The error message you got are from cardmgr which is monitoring the sockets
and tries to install the pcmcia base drivers (ds, i82365, pcmcia). If you
are using the Kernel Hot-Plug feature you don't need them anymore. All is
handled by the Kernel. If your pcmcia card is supported by the Kernel then
you don't need the pcmcia_cs stand-alone package anymore.

Best Regards,
