Hi Mark, What you can do is to use your original kernel configuration as the basis for the new. Within /boot, you should see a file called vmlinuz.config. This should be the configuration of the kernel installed from your initial configuration. Copy this file to the directory in which you installed your kernel source, as ".config". If you now fire up xconfig you should get the same starting configuration as your original kernel. Incidentally I recall that there is a kernel make command which will take a base configuration and only show you new options which are available in a later kernel. Does someone on this list know how to use this option? Is this the newversion option I wonder. Alternatively, if you cannot find this file, you could try booting your original kernel and looking for the file /proc/config.gz, it may or may not exist (depending on your kernel config). If it does, the following will give you the configuration of this running kernel: "gzip -d -c /proc/config.gz". Hope this helps. Kind regards, Simon
