I can confirm this for 7.1 and 7.2 I think. It's worth compiling your own samba 2.2.2 especially if you got w2k. I compile my own and logging works. 1. uninstall samba and smbclient rpms. 2. pull sources and ./configure 3. edit samba Makefile to move files to regular suse locations (aka alter parameter for binary locations) 4. use "mc" to enter samba rpm from suse and extract /etc/init.d/smb script. all should work well now including the script from suse to restart smb mk

I have restarted samba, even rebooted. Samba is not logging. An Identical config on an Irix machine works fine. /var/log/samba exists.
Anyone have any ideas?
