Hi Harry, That is very odd. When I tried to run SaX2 it wouldn't and it asked me to switch to Sax (the older version) and of course Sax still cannot configure my 3DLabs VX1 card. I am using Suse 7.1 and I wonder if you are using the same version. I will follow your instructions to see what happens. I did try to configure manually in the past but I always ended up with errors. By the way, I inquired with Xig and they indicated they do *not* support the VX1 Card. I installed my vx1 card this weekend. I was surprised to find that sax2 has minimal support for it.my advise to you is to follow these directions.
1)have your system boot is ascii mode. 2)from the command prompt (superuser) run sax2 3)sax2 will auto detect your hardware 4)go to the monitor selection and choose your monitor model 5)alternately (my selection) use the vesa monitor and choose the resolution and refresh rate of your monitor 6)test your settings and adjust your screen size 7)your image may be distorted if you make your screen too large 8)choose a lower refresh rate 9)when you get it right save settings and exit
This method worked for me. I am now in the process of getting the xig server to run on suse 7.2 when and if i get it running i'll e-mail the procedure if interested.

mode. I guess the graphic card driver never installed. I tried launching Gnome and got lots of X11 errors.
What should I do?
