Well, at least you could order a box via internet in US, or whatever,

but getting SuSE in Russia -- is a GREAT problem!

first -- NO retail shops sell it here (3 days ago i heard an announcment of a first one starting to cell 7.2pro!)

second -- order it via Internet is an issue too -- Credit cards (which are not popular here -- i ask my friends always) from here are accepted hardly, lots of confirmation documents are requested, and delivery time is MUCH higher for us (from 2 weeks up to a month by snail mail -- in case your payment was accepted, and DHL delivery costs as much as the box itself) -- there is a geater probability that ftp distro appears earlier than it gets delivered.

third -- internet cost here high, so few people can afford downloading 6GB distrigution, luckily, i study and work in a university, so this is free to me, and sucking full FTP distro takes me usually 2 days. -- but that is not too much comfortable to get it home, (if only on HDD).

The only appropiate way is to ask someone in business-trip to Europe to bring one box here.

So, despite my greatest wish to support SuSE developers by buying a box, it is hard to do :-(. And since most of my friends enjoyed using SuSE from the very first time i introduced it to them, there is nothing i can do, as to share with them with iso-image copies (if any) or HDD copy of ftp distro.

PS[OT]: by the way -- do you know how much a software cost here? i bet you dont! i tell ya -- ALL software, except legal, costs here approx. 2-3$ per disk! you can buy warez everywhere here freely! even MS-WINDOWS -- it is much harder for a user to get legal soft! (i bet same happens in most of non-US and non-EU countries.) -- so, do you think that a user will buy a linux system here, while it costs higher than a windows 0-copy CD? I think that MS itslef enjoys this situation, since they have more that 99% percent of computers here running windows, and people will likely demand a windows system on their working place, and in this case their employers will have to buy it legally -- That is what i call a black marketing!

PPS: besides -- since Mandrake or RedHat iso's are free -- it is much easier to find them here -- these are the only linuxes we have here -- but they are never sold as Boxes -- just as a pile of CDs 2-3$ each. you all used to see in shops for the reason mentiond above!

Hey Lew,

Can you send me one of those giveaways then please since I couldn't get v7.2 here in Canada until mid August, and now am bitter about 7.3 coming out already :)) lol
Dialup prevents me from upgrading via ftp as well :)

Had to add this.

Hi Ole,

I buy at least four professional boxes for each version.
SuSE does such a good job and with its support of the
open-source world I feel I "owe" it to them. I usually
wind up giving a couple boxes away to help spread the
word.

Lew Wolfgang
