ok.. i was able to boot into rescue mode using the cd, and put the
previous version of the rc.config file in place of the new one (which did
somehow become a binary file), but i still can't boot past mounting /proc
and /dev/pts.. i checked the boot.log and boot.msgs in the real fs (after
mounting in the rescue system) and they don't show anything from the
attempts to boot that are failing..
any more suggestions would be appreciated..
