Hi I have a consumer or Linux edition as I think it is known on the german site, which I gather is put together with stronger plastic than the earlier developer edition. But having said that the hinge for the lid seems fragile and some have reported the lids breaking, mine is okay, I think because I used it in a different case to the flip case supplied. I replaced the standard matrix os for the snow compilied os and this improved speed dramtically making it useable on a day to day basis. But at work I have to use Outlook 97, which currently can not sync to the Agenda, I gather it is being worked on at the moment. It is fine if you just use Linux at home and work to sync appointments etc. I have never owned a palm pilot so I can not compare, but I have seen the ipaq and that seems really cool, not sure how complete the linux os on ipaq is, I think it uses the same agenda pim tools. Also Sharp are bringing out a Lineo Linux os pda with Amiga and Java apps. But I think all the new pda's will be more expensive than the Agenda VR3, it depends on what you need it for, ipaq's can play video etc, but if all you need is pim apps, Linux terminal and X, then perhaps consider the VR3. Cheers Rich Check out http://www.csee.umbc.edu/~acedil1/agenda/ for info on the agenda and access in to the agenda mailing lists. http://www.handhelds.org for the ipaq distro. http://www.linuxdevices.com info on pda's, reviews etc on the pda's above and other pdas like the Yopy. http://developer.sharpsec.com/ Sharp site for developers on their new pda due out in the US this autumn and Eurpoe next year. I thought they were pretty cheaply constructed and were also slow, just with what little apps they had available at the time. Although the software no doubt has improved as they went into production, I can't imagine it being fast enough to be usable and I doubt if the construction has been improved. A palm pilot it is not.
