The Epson photo 890 is supported in the the latest version of gimp-print (4.1.99-b2). This version is classed as "unstable" - i.e. much more stable than Windows2000. Version 4.2 (stable) will probably appear in the next few weeks. To use the printer, you'll need CUPS and the gimp-print plugin, which you'll need to download from http://sourceforge.net/ and compile. If you're not used to compiling, I can send you precise compilation instructions. JDL Fergus Wilde wrote:
Is anyone successfully using an Epson stylus photo 890 printer with SuSE 7.2? linuxprinting.org gives it good marks, and describes it as working 'perfectly' but it doesn't appear in the SuSE supported hardware list, although v. similar ones from slightly earlier in Epson's range do.
Is anyone using such a printer networked for access by Windows clients over Samba?
Any hints gratefully received.
