I'd suggest you use the program "gpart" at:
http://www.stud.uni-hannover.de/user/76201/gpart/
It is supposed to be able to recover a damaged partition. READ the
instructions.
Sometimes it is just enough to recreate your partitions exactly as you had
them before (without recreating the file systems.) For that to work, you
should have printed and saved the partition table. It is a good practice
and I'd suggest everybody do it as a preventative measure.
