Hi, This is not a SuSE or a Sendmail problem. Your messages are being bounced because your IP address is on the DUL blacklist. This can happen if your provider allows users to send unsollicited garbage (spam) and refuses to act against it. I cannot say whether this is justified or not. If you are forging your return address (I suppose not), it possibly is. You probably should complain about this to your provider. In any case. The RH 'solution' comes down to this in SuSE. Go to the rc.config editor in YaST(2) and set the following variables: FROM_HEADER: the domain of your ISP. SENDMAIL_SMARTHOST: the mailserver of your ISP (usually smtp). This is explained more fully in the SuSE manuals. Good luck, Tim On Mon, Sep 24, 2001 at 07:55:35AM +0100, Derek Fountain wrote:
This with SuSE-7.1. Let me know if it's been fixed in later versions.
SuSEconfig set up my sendmail system, but I'm getting an increasing number of emails bouncing back with the following error (for example):
--------- from localhost [127.0.0.1]
----- The following addresses had permanent fatal errors -----
(reason: 553 http://www.mail-abuse.org/dul/ See URL:http://mail-abuse.org/dul/) ----- Transcript of session follows -----

<<< 553 http://www.mail-abuse.org/dul/ See URL:http://mail-abuse.org/dul/ 550 5.1.1
... User unknown ---------- Following the URL given leads to this:
------------- define(`SMART_HOST',`mail.yourisp.net')dnl <--- Your ISP's mail server name goes here MASQUERADE_AS(yourisp.net)dnl <--- Your ISP's domain name goes here FEATURE(`allmasquerade')dnl FEATURE(`masquerade_envelope')dnl ----------
I've no idea what this means or how to apply the RHL solution to SuSE. There's nothing in the support database about it.
What can I do?
