Hi again, It has something to do with the direct rendering, that's all I know. It doesn't seem to do any harm so I just shut it off in my /etc/modules.conf to get rid of the message: # Silence DRI #alias char-major-145 off alias char-major-226 off (With DRI-enabled XFree86-4.0.x the same happened with char major-145) Bye, Tim On Sun, Sep 23, 2001 at 03:22:52PM -0500, Robert C. Why do I get the following error:

It happens every time I start X.
"226" isn't mentioned anywhere in /etc/modules.conf.
/usr/src/linux/Documentation/devices.txt says that 226-239 is "UNASSIGNED".
I use SuSE 7.2 witrh XF86 4.10 from SuSE's web site.
