Have you tried posting your query on Ximian's Evolution list? I'm not aware of any Evolution hackers on SLE (feel free to correct me if you're out there) <snip> This email was created and sent with Ximian Evolution 0.13 (...)
That's the one version I dled, too, from the SuSE 7.2 folder at ximian.com
Sounds like you may have FTP'd the files. A couple of weeks ago, before the Ximian site actually supported SuSE 7.2, I was using the same method to get the Evolution files and found that method to be problematic. Could easily take 4 to 8 hours to resolve the various issues.
Since Ximian has started actually supporting SuSE the surest method of installing evolution is to use the Ximian installer. Go to the Ximian web site -> Products -> Downloads -> SuSE and intall the MINIMUM Ximian gnome if all you really want is Evolution OR one of the other Ximian options. After the installer is finished. Adjust your display manager to allow for a "gnome-session" to run; not gnome. From a gnome-session use "Get Software" (aka Red Carpet), subscribe to the Ximian channel and then install evolution. There were some dependancy issue that were not properly handled when Ximian first set this up but those issues have all been resolved.
In the last two weeks I have set up evolution on 4 computers using SuSE 7.2 with this method (not bad for home user). The average setup time is 35 to 60 minutes. Failure rate is zero. Last machine was setup last night (this computer).
This method of installing Evolution DOES work reliably. Now, hopefully I will learn how to get the spell check working.
Is Galeon playing nicely with Evolution if installed in this way? I tried to install Evolution (using every method save the one you suggest...) but everytime I got close to a working install of Evol., Galeon would puke and I would get the 'schema' errors again--which I correct but in doing so Evolution refuses to work. I have since given up trying to install Evolution. I **like** it. I would even pay for it. But I like Galeon and my regular Gnome desktop better...
