Why are you not using Yast2?
I had some major problems when trying to get PHP4 to work with apache. What caused my problem was that PHP4 conflicted with the LDAP module. You might not have this problem but if someone would happend to get a segment fault when trying to start apache then this might be what's causing it. Disabling LDAP helps.

Can someone suggest a way to install PHP for my suse 7.2? I downloaded from ftp.suse, and when I try to install, I get these errors. This feels like I'm about to enter a rat's nest.
I'd rather be coding like a monkey.
HELP PLEASE!!!
