A while ago I posted about a problem I was encountering with several X programs such as xdvi, xcolors, and xfontsel: I would get the messages: Warning: Unable to load any usable ISO8859 font Segmentation fault I finally tracked down the problem, and perhaps others can learn from my esperience. It appears that X has a default font, which is the first font found in the first font path. That has to be an X display font, not a TrueType font. So if the first FontPath item in the Files section of /etc/X11/XF86Config contains only TrueType fonts, X will get into trouble on its apps and you'll get the message that I did. This problem seems to span several generations of X. I solved the problem by rearranging the FontPath lines so as to move the TrueType fonts down a notch. Paul
