Mplayer works well for playing Mpegs and such. You also have Crossover from Codeweavers. That one will cost you a few bucks.
I find Mplayer works very well, but isn't very integrated in a GUI environment. There are no widgets or prefs boxes, etc. Essentially, it's easiest to just set up an alias in your profile to 'save' settings. The man page contains all of the keys for pause/ff/rew/etc. It does handle pretty much everything but Quicktime/Sorenson. Crossover is just great. I bought it and I'm glad I did. I immediately spent an inordinate amount of time at http://www.apple.com/trailers gawking at the new movies coming out. Quicktime runs quite well as a plug-in. I found Shockwave to be pretty slow, however, but who uses that? Flash is much more popular. -- James Oakley Engineering - SolutionInc Ltd. joakley@solutioninc.com http://www.solutioninc.com
