Let me give you the details of my configuration. Maybe something will help: Plextor 12/10/32 connected as Secondary Master on IDE port 2. My /etc/fstab file: /dev/hda6 / ext2 defaults 1 1 /dev/hda2 /boot ext2 defaults 1 2 #/dev/cdrecorder /cdrecorder auto ro,noauto,user,exec 0 0 /dev/cdrom /cdrom auto ro,noauto,user,exec 0 0 /dev/hda3 /data1 auto noauto,user 0 0 devpts /dev/pts devpts defaults 0 0 /dev/dvd /dvd auto ro,noauto,user,exec 0 0 /dev/fd0 /floppy auto noauto,user 0 0 proc /proc proc defaults 0 0 /dev/hda1 /windows/C vfat noauto,user 0 0 /dev/hda5 swap swap defaults 0 2 /dev/sda4 /zip vfat noauto,user 0 0 /dev/sr0 /cdrecorder auto rw,noauto,user,exec 0 0 And, like I said, I have a sym link from /dev/cdrecorder to /dev/hdc Added "hdc=ide-scsi" to Lilo boot line using Yast1 Added "alias scsi_hostadapter ide-scsi" to /etc/modules.conf Added "modprobe ide-scsi" to boot.local Changed the desktop icon to point to /dev/sr0 Thats what I did to get mine working. Hope this helps Fred. If there's anything else I can give you, let me know. Jerry "Fred A. Miller" wrote:

Fred, do you have it listed in fstab as sr0 or scd0? Mine is sr0. Try that and see if it works.
'Same error! This is really getting to be a pain in the butt!! I've contacted suse support, but I'm not expecting any response anytime soon. This is not only a real puzzle, but I'm at a point where I MUST have this drive working!!
