Could somebody please help me, I am pulling my hair out. I installed Suse
7.1, Suse detected my sound card (sound blaster live) . I then ran the
sound mixer program turned up the volume and hey I had sound.
Shortly after this my machine crashed (running star office). Rebooted the
machine and tried to play a cd. Damn no sound.
I tried to start alsa manually, but I got the message that it was already
running. I then decided to reinstall the alsa package off the cd's and try
again. I installed the package successfully.
Then I went to YAST2 to select the correct sound card. I couldn't find the
sound blaster live driver so I selected soundblaster 16 bit. When selecting
finish yast2 returned the message error could not load module.
I have no sound, do not understand how suse linux handles sound, don't know
about alsa. If somebody would time the time to explain and or point me to
information on this subject, I would be most grateful. Also if somebody could
suggest a solution to my problem again I would be most grateful.
regards
Neil
