Trumpet was an enabler for people to get on the Internet with Windows 3.1 It was generally provided "free" and pre-configured by the Internet Service Provider (and most major educational institutions as part of their network dialup software). I never particularly considered it abominated as the connected world moved from an ascii serial based mode to one using IP. Addiing IP support was part of the growing pains as the internet started to take hold, no matter what operating system you used. My first internet connection did not require IP and worked in DOS; all that was needed was a communications program that could do basic terminal emulation. Don't forget the Unix and Linux to some degree, was originally used to support terminals and dumb ones at that. Windows for Workgroups was a networking techology and sharing resources that supported TCPIP as a protocol, with or without Trumpet. Your lawsuit would fail. One of my bosses likes the quote "Build on Strengths" rather than focusing on Weaknesses. One should focus on the Strengths of Linux in building the Linux community and not the percieved weaknesses of Windows which only leads to the "flame wars" found in this thread. Aaaaarrrrrrgggggghhhhhhh! TRUMPET WINSOCK!!!! =:-o
Please never speak of such horrors again. It brought back memories of having to set up a 'sacrificial host' windows box in the pioneer days of the internet. No I don't wanna go back to that place....
We should all sue MS for the psychological trauma incurred by such abominations as windows 3 and required winsock graft-ons like sTrumpet.

Well its still in its infancy, but is much easier to use than Windows 3.11 and DOS :). Trumpet Winsock, and mem problems, ugh...Wonder how many remember that?
