My guess is this is a mis-match (or bug) between KPM and 2.4.8 (I see the same thing)
Do a 'free' and see what it says about your swap space. (mine is being used)
On my box 'free' shows that everything is OK total used free shared buffers cached Mem: 513308 199416 313892 0 39612 84956 -/+ buffers/cache: 74848 438460 Swap: 273024 0 273024 The last thing left is to figure out how to fix that mis-match (or bug) between KPM and 2.4.8. What is interesting that up to kernel 2.4.6 everything was normal.
