Good job John,
I wrote in awhile ago to their e-envoy. He seemed very willing to listen, but without your and others efforts nothing would have occured.
Now it seems Code Red mark 2 has arrived on the scene, maybe its time to up the ante and point out the security deficiencies with their web server (ok I am assuming they are running IIS...).

The UK Government seems to be responding to pressure.
http://www.gateway.gov.uk/ was originally only available to M$ windows
users or Mac users with M$ Internet Exploiter. They now claim that their
website is accessible through (RedHat) Linux using Netscape 4.xx or
Opera 5.x. They have removed the obfuscatory nonsense about javascript
and incompatible java virtual machines (no prizes for guessing where
that came from).
I am still pursuing the cabinet office to answer a very obvious question
about how they managed to spend public money decomoditising a public
protocol.
