well, commenting it out or setting it to off will get rid of the kernel messages, but I dont know if that will fix your download problems. I know kernel 2.4.x does ppp much differently than 2.2.x and there are more modules loaded whenever you initiate a connection.

Yes, kernel 2.4.x changed ppp modules. ppp_async should be aliased to tty-ldisc-3 and ppp0 and ppp1 There are several ppp modules now in kernel 2.4.x to offer more PPP options. Information is contained in the /usr/src/linux/Documentation/changes file. Ambrosius - -- ¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ???????????????????????????????
