I think you will find that quite a lot of people use it. I too have done my absolute best to go 100% linux, but there are couple of apps (I won't bore you with the details), that I simply must have that do not exist in linux or run under wine. I do not use photoshop, so I am afraid I can't help you there, but I did not experience much aggro in setting up vmware - which I find to be a highly stable and very professional piece of software. There are, however, just occasional problems with screen-handling that I have experienced - in my case this only affects text, but I guess you might want to bear that in mind when deciding whether to buy. It is also noticeably slower than native 'doze on my P800.
I'm using Win4Lin V3.0 (http://www.netraverse.com) and have been very pleased with it. It's reputedly faster than VMWare and definitely less expensive, but its emulation is not at as fundamental a level as VMWare's. I would guess it would run PhotoShop but I don't know for sure. Paul
