Atempting to get my CD-RW to work I have done the following to my SuSE 7.2 system. I went to root and
in lilo.conf, I have added the line, append="hdd=ide-scsi"
It's OK, but your lilo.conf contains:
append = "append=hdd=ide-scsi"
My guess is that the kernel doesn't understand it at therefore hdd is not handled as a scsi device.
I have not done anything to fstab and mtab
Unless you want some troubles, don't modify /etc/mtab ;-).
Having corrected your lilo.conf and rebooted the following two modules should be loaded: # lsmod ide-scsi 8016 0 sg 22464 0
-- Alexandr.Malusek@imv.liu.se Alexandr: Thank you very much that was the problem. I removed the append= inside the quote mark and now it works. This is the output of cdrecord -scanbus and lsmod.
