Jean-François, (FYI. All), Thanks for your suggestion. After I removed all non-existant paths from /etc/manpath.config, the problem seems to have been corrected. Edit the file /etc/manpath.config and remove all the lines beginning with MANDATORY_MANPATH that refers to a path that doesn't exist on your system.
