there is an option make menuconfig to use the Experimental drivers, you have to switch this on! Then you will be able to select ReiserFS from the File system menu.
I know, my self-built kernel works fine, but when I noticed that Hubert had posted new RPMs of the k_deflt package (ie the one that contains /boot/vmlinuz) for 2.4.4 I thought I'd give it a try, and found that Hubert had built it with Reiser disabled - oops! :)
I've found a problem with suse though. When going from Suse 7.0 (2.2.16 + ReiserPatch) to 2.4.4, the reiserfs seems to be implemented differently. This means I cannot mount my 'old' reiserFS systems. BAD!. I have since bought another HD, booted into 2.2.16, put everything on ext2 and recreated the reiserfs system with the new version. It all works now!
I suspect that's cos of the new version of Reiser, although I'm not 100% certain... -- James Ogley, Unix System Administrator, Pinnacle.Net james.ogley@pinnacle.co.uk +44 20 8731 3619 Listening to the sound of the coming rain... *********************************************************************** CONFIDENTIALITY.
