I have had a problem with using the efnet irc network. none of the 
servers will now accept me. I am running ident, but it sitll doesn't 
work. Perhaps the problem is ident.conf? i dunno. I am also behind a 
firewall on my dsl router. Port 113 is listening but I dont really 
know how to find out more than that. My apt mate uses mirc in win98 
and can get in. i can't. However, xconsole shows this:

of course, i dunno what this means either :(

I want back into my fave irc channels.
