I wrote in the Independent newspaper to tell the about how the UK gov't under the self confessed "technokrutz" signed some stupid, expensive, doomed to failure deal with Microsoft. Whilst the NHS could really do with some money... With Open Source you have the basis for more home grown systems, very silly decision not to use it. After reading the GPL FAQ you can make improvements that need to remain secret a secret as long as you do not sell the binary. In the case e-government this is not necessary. I should stop ranting now...Ok last rant, living in Silicon Valley you quickly realise that the tech world does not revolve around MSFT. Add the fact that they have burned so many bridges they will have a hard time gaining any partners...Few trust them. Ok rant off Matt
