Hi,
when NT boots, it looks for Ntdetect.com and Ntldr (perhaps not only these),
I think you left these files in hda1, so it can't boot.
I checked the new hda5, yes it contains these files, although I cannot see them with ls or mc (any idea?) But when I try to overwrite them, cp tells me they do exist. Now, I shall add the whole original mail quoted again, because it occured that a tried to RE-write lilo, that then I received an error like "partition ENTRY not found" - see my /etc/lilo.con below What does my cute girl want to tell me here? (I often speak NOT language of women.... heheh)
I don't know if you can by pass the dos boot manager and go straight to NT(perhaps somebody else knows). I usually boot with lilo, then select windows partition in hda1 and >from the windows menu boot to NT...

An entry in the grub file configuration calls the dos boot-manager, like lilo... Lilo with the lba32 option now does the same thing that grub, in my opinion.
really? i am stuck with my problem. i need a solution to boot nt4 via lilo i am using suse 7.0
what have i to do? any howto/docs??
Hi, these links came from suse, they have info about installing suse with win2000 or nt...

Dear Gustavo (and cc'd LIST):
I read them all over - over and over again, and did just that. I have moved my old NT4 partion from my old hda1 to my new hda5 via 1:1 copy of dd. hda5 starts at cyl. 437, so that should be no problem. It says (after selecting at LILO) "Loading nt" and gets stuck. Here's my /etc/lilo.conf.
# LILO configuration file
# Start LILO global Section
# If you want to prevent console users to boot with init=/bin/bash,
# restrict usage of boot params by setting a passwd and using the option
# restricted.
#password=bootpwd
#restricted
boot=/dev/hda
#compact # faster, but won't work on all systems.
vga=792
read-only
message=/boot/message
prompt
timeout=50
# End LILO global Section
#
image = /boot/vmlinuz
root = /dev/hda2
label = l
#
other = /dev/hda1
label = w
table = /dev/hda
# other = /dev/hda5
label = nt
table = /dev/hda
# test only!
# loader= /boot/nt4_d.b
hda5 starts at cyl 437
Any help??? I cannot see my fault...
