Not sure if it's what you're looking for, but make cloneconfig will give you a .config matching the choices in the running kernel. That way you have a starting point som you can be sure of not forgetting anything. HTH Anders On Monday 30 April 2001 07:56, you wrote:
ok this was so damned easy with FreeBSD. what is so hard about enabling more options in the kernel and then getting that kernel to boot?
i am TRYING to use 7.1 and i am attempting to enable advanced routing, etc in the kernel so that i can take this hot rod out for a spin. but after i run make dep, clean, and menuconfig i run make bzdisk to copy my new version to a floppy. it doesn't get past OK Booting the Kernel. then i try edit /etc/lilo.conf to include /usr/src/linux/arch/i386/boot/bzImage i set the label as Nubian and the root as my root partition, run lilo (it says it's added Nubian) - nothing then i figure it's the damned SuSE YAST1/2 crap again and i think i reinstall from YAST2 and nothing. what is so hard about putting a conf file somewhere so that i can play with it and then letting that file be read ? i am severely pissed off, i see nothing in the how to for this. please help.
