Thanks for all the responses. After reading /usr/src/linux/Documentation/Changes, I started updating the pieces it suggested. Surprisingly, a currently patched (or mostly current) had at least 50% of the pieces up to date already. The rest I got from the 7.1 directories on ftp.suse.com ftp://ftp.suse.com/ . After applying the rpms and rebooting to the 2.4.2 kernel pppd worked fine. -----Original Message----- From: Cory Steers Sent: Wednesday, April 25, 2001 8:00 AM To: suse-linux-e@suse.com Subject: [SLE] pppd problems I'm having trouble advancing my 7.0 box to a 2.4.x kernel with pppd. I'm still stuck with dial up internet access (no other options where I live). I execute "/usr/sbin/pppd call myisp" to get on. Using ppp-2.3.11-143 with a 2.4.2 kernel I get this error message "ioctl(PPPIOCGFLAGS): Invalid argument".
