Hi Since updating SuSE7.0 kernel from 2.2.16 to 2.4.2-4GB Also updated modutils, and ppp, as required by /usr/src/linux/Documentation/changes. For now, I'm Not upgrading to SuSE 7.1 - maybe 7.2 . tset man page - tset - terminal initialization Tset initializes terminals. Tset first determines the type of terminal that you are using. This determination is done as follows, using the first terminal type found. 1. The terminal argument specified on the command line. 2. The value of the TERM environmental variable. . . . . . . . ''''''''''''''''''''' Question: I hosed something while updating kernel sources didn't I ? Everything runs as before = semi-normal - a few things like ALSA modules for 2.4.2-4GB the only ones recognized out of 3 - 2.4.2 suse rpm kernels . The sources are 2.4.2-suse, I couldn't locate sources for 2.4.2-4GB . I wonder if using the 2.4.2-4GB rpm kernel along with /usr/src/linux-2.4.2.SuSE sources , has something to do with any, 'in out control' (ioctl) for some devices. anyone have this problem before, or recently ? tset: standard error: Inappropriate ioctl for device Appreciate any feedback to this , John W Mislan -- God does not play dice" -- Einstein "Not only does God play dice, he sometimes throws them where they can't be seen." -- Stephen Hawking
