Hey, I just enabled md5sum passwords when I used the harden_suse script and it said I had to change my password in order for it to take effect. I liked my current password so I temporarily changed it to !@#$ASDF, then set it back to my former password. when I set it back to my old one I got a segfault: jw@box:~ > passwd Old Password: New password: Re-enter new password: Password changed Segmentation fault jw@box:~ > I can't help but think that it is NOT good for passwd to segfault. If it's reproducible, I wonder if it could be exploited somehow. I was able to get a segfault on second computer too. Think it's because of the md5 hashing? ---------------------------------------------------- Jonathan Wilson System Administrator Cedar Creek Software http://www.cedarcreeksoftware.com Central Texas IT http://www.centraltexasit.com
