SuSE 7.1 Just installed and was setting up my system and noticed a few things that are different from my move from RH v6.2 installation that I overwrote with this SuSE install. Maybe it's nothing but, here goes. I use this system as a firewall and have the setup currently locked down to DENY everything. Cool and very easy to setup and it appears that it is working fine. 1. I tail my message log and have noticed a block of -- MARK --- messages followed by a cmd that appears to be a cron job that removes /var/spool/cron/lastrun/cron.hourly and this happens on a regular bases. What are these for? 2. The modules.conf file seems to be totally different. During installation I had problems writing modules.conf because of my partitioning scheme. This was corrected by installing the latest y2base.rpm. However, I get a bunch of sound card modprobe errors in my warn log on bootup and periodically while running. Probably because I don't have a sound card in this system. How do I fix this? 3. I see a startup and shutdown message on the screen that says something like "Starting ISDN Done" and "Stopping ISDN done" when the system is going to that specific start or stop. Don't have ISDN and was wondering why? TIA
